| TARGETED AGE GROUP |
 |
The 9-hour EQ Camp is targeted at Primary 1 children.
|
 |
| BENEFITS |
 |
Everyday, children face adversities such as exam stress, peer pressure, school bullies, low self-esteem or other family stressors. Whether such experiences crush or strengthen an individual child depends, in part, on his or her resilience and level of emotional intelligence (EQ). Resilience is about the power to overcome adversity - emotionally and cognitively.
After many years of research, we now know that it is possible for oneself to be aware and improve on his or her own EQ.
Learning EQ competencies early on such as self-awareness, self-management, and interpersonal skills can make a big difference in our children's future successes, happiness and health. We can also attest from the experiences of so many successful men and women, that having high EQ was even more important than IQ in helping these people get to where they are.

 |
| OBJECTIVES |
 |
In this 9-hours school-based camp, the seeds of EQ will be introduced and students will have the opportunity to learn and practice the following emotional and thinking skills: self-awareness, emotional regulation, self-motivation, social skills, empathy, and problem solving skills. These skills will be shared with the students in innovative and exciting ways through fun-filled activities and challenging games.
Upon completion of the EQ Camp, students will be able to:
-
increase self-awareness by understanding different positive and negative emotions experienced;
-
foster self-management by identifying strategies to regulate negative emotions in positive ways;
- develop social awareness by learning how different emotions can affect others;
- improve relationship management in learning ways to cooperate with others; and
- develop decision making skills by identifying problem solving strategies.
